Held the last Sunday in June every year, this parade (and weekend fest) is always a good time. I’ve attended in the past, not within the last year or two, but have many times in years gone by.

It is not as wild or crazy as some make it out to be, there are loads of families (both gay and straight) in attendance, and lots of kids as well. It is after all a parade, complete with floats, banners, pinatas, (and of course) the obligatory beads. Some of the floats are quite creative and the music totally hip hoppin.

As sure as Chicago is diverse, so is the Chicago Gay Pride Parade. There are latinos, blacks, chinese, indians, and everything else in between present. All in the name of brotherly and sisterly love.

Too bad i wont be attending this Summer, maybe next. If you are going, do let me know. Feel free to share your load of pics with me. I will post them here on the Chicago blog. Peace, Missy.

I think i might be pushing it too hard. If so, bare with me. Or maybe i will just turn this blog into a Chicago myspace layout blog. Hmmm, that doesn’t sound half bad. Does it? Regardless i found this neat Chicago Bears layout, and it is a good one.

The top post on Groovy Chicago is the one i wrote back a few months ago, on a Chicago Cubs Myspace Layout. I get daily traffic to this page, and the hits just keep on coming.

Why?

I am a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan, and have been ever since i was a kid. Wrigley Field is a city landmark, a true Chicago treasure. Although the Cubbies have had it rough in the last two decades, they still fill Wrigley Field every summer. Many games are completely sold out by June. It is a summer ritual to go down to Addison Avenue, visit the Green Confines, and watch the Cubbies play. (Win or lose, its always a blast)

And its not just local fever either, many of the visitors i get to Groovy Chicago, and the Cubs Myspace Layout page, are national. (Some even international) Peope all over LOVE the Chicago Cubs. I will try and feature them here more, including the upcoming season.

What is the mark of any true Chicagoan? Knowing that “there is always next year”.

That is such a kick-ass song and it’s what im thinking about for tonites SuperBowl Sunday.

Tom Brady - QB with New England Patriots

Game is on, literally. Tonite kicks off the supremacy for NFL glory. On one corner, we have the New York Giants with Southern Boy Eli Manning, and then we have The New England Patriots with pretty bloy floyd, Tom Brady. I think its safe to say Eli Manning is the underdog and Tom Brady is the expected champ. Superbowl 42 promises to be a good duel.

For half-time we have “Tom Petty and the Heartbrakers“. Why? I guess the NFL folks couldnt find a better act. Why not Bon Jovi or Maroon 5.

Who am i rooting for? I’m with Brady and the Boys.

It will be very interesting if Manning (and the Giants) pull it off and score the Bowl. But how sweet will it be if Brady (and the Patriots) run a PERFECT 19-0 season.

We will soon find out. See you tonite on FOX.

I just need to find the right person. But being a girl, i can dream prematurely right. You bet.

I recently came across this Chicago weddings site, it is a wedding resource site, and it covers everything from the gown to photographers, from catering to wedding venues, bridesmaid dresses, the reception, bands, you name it.

I like how they have everything organized by category with lots of cool pics for a girl to dream way of her perfect and gorgeous wedding day. It is after all……our day……our day to have it all and be it all. The one perfect day!

I am knee deep in this site, and let me tell you, when my special day comes, i will be so ready. Maybe too ready. lol. Sorry to my future mate!

I just read an interesting article on backyard chickens in the City of Chicago. It seems that many eco conscious individuals are taking to the trend of adapting chickens as pets for their fresh eggs.

However there are opponents to this new trend, several complaints coming out of woodwork, such as from neighbors about noise, from quality control about rodents, and from urban purists about the un-modern look of chickens in cities.

I personally would welcome a chicken (or two) as a family pet and would love to see more and more people doing this, as it would decrease the need and use of chickens for eggs in those horrid factory farms. As a vegetarian, i know those are no fun for chickens.

I’m all for this new growing trend, and i feel the city of Chicago instead of banning them, should create standards for people wanting to adapt them as pets, in a sanitary and healthy fashion.

“Go-go dancing was popular in the ’60s and ’70s. Think Marcia from “The Brady Bunch,” Goldie Hawn from “Laugh In” or those “shagalicious” ladies from the Austin Powers films. Go-go dancing provides an all-over workout: arms, hips and thighs. It’s a little bit of cabaret movement combined with groovy tunes and hip shaking and arm swirling”.

This event sounds like a randy dandy heck of a good time to me, and it will be held at the Big City Swing venue in Chicago, IL. I always look forward to the Goldstar email because not only do they list the coolest and hottest shows to check out in the city. (be it a play, new theatre, comedy night, or a groovy 60’s themed workout) They also provide HUGE discounts where most events can be attended at for upto or more than half-price. How does it work?
