Long time reporter Amy Jacobson, who has been with NBC5 for eleven years, was fired on Tuesday, after being caught on videotape at the home of Craig Stebic, who’s wife has been missing since April 30th.
Amy states she is disappointed “the station did not support her” and that she did not cross any lines, but NBC 5 feels she overstepped her boundaries and compromised her professional integrity, because of the videotape.
I’ve seen Amy many times on Channel 5 reporting on various stories and she was active in many community festivals and was a sprite addition to the cast of Chicago reporters. I’m sure she will be seen again on TV, perhaps on a rival station or she can always venture into cable entertainment news.

I’ve never seen her before but she’s pretty fine. Hot anchors are what make or break news shows these days since it’s all about entertainment and misleading the gullible masses with lies rather then informing the public about important things.
A tape of her in a bathing suit would be interesting enough all by itself. But I guess her boss thought it was more profitable to sacrifice her employment and ruin her life by publishing this tape as part of a sultry scandal full of juicy rumors and innuendos. No hard facts, of course.
I hope she wins her case with quad damages.

i totally second what he said: she’s a babe with some personality to boot. yeah she screwed up. but with ratings low, & whole demographics that dont even watch the news WMAQ acted too fast in firing her, unless they know something we dont.
in todays climate of TMZ she should definitely be able to bounce back and cash in. Chicago media likes to portray itself as squeaky clean, so that cloud would always be over her head here, but theres always other markets, cable, etc..
i just wish it was my house she was caught coming out of……later for you haters!

nightfly, get your facts straight, you idiot. her boss didn’t publish the video, the rival station, channel 2 did.
apparantly, she’s as stupid as you. most parents wouldn’t take their kids to a pool party at the house of a man who is suspected of murdering his last couple of wives. forget the fact that she is a journalist who is covering the story. what a stupid fool. she got what was coming to her. and, by the way, if you think she is “pretty fine”, then you really must be hard up or your wife must be particularily ugly.

Wow! How fitting that you guys are commenting on this post that i wrote exactly 1 year ago this week.
I guess one could say, it’s the anniversary of Amy Jacobson’s firing.
Have you guys heard what she’s up to lately? I suppose i should do some research, and write a follow-up post on her.
